At just 58cm tall, two-year-old Charlotte Garside is smaller than most of her toys.

The tiny toddler, from Hull in England, suffers from an extremely rare form of primordial dwarfism called majewski osteodysplastic which affects just 100 people in the world.

Charlotte cannot eat and digest food and is fed a milk formula through a gastric tube.

The disorder means that Charlotte, who weighs 3.55kg, will only ever grow to 61cm tall.

Charlotte's mother Emma Newman said that despite being small Charlotte had "a big personality".

"All we know is that Charlotte really is one of a kind. She's been through a lot in such a short life," The Mirror quoted Ms Newman as saying.

"So many tests and hospital visits, but she takes it all in her stride.

"There are no definites so we don't know how long Charlotte will be with us, we hope for as long as anyone else but we just don't know."

Charlotte, who will appear in a Five TV documentary called Extraordinary people: The tiniest girl in the world, weighed 500g when she was born four weeks premature.

Ms Newman said scans taken during her pregnancy gave no warning of Charlotte's condition.

Her family had to dress her in doll's clothes because no premature baby clothes would fit her.

As she approaches her third birthday, Charlotte is still wearing newborn baby clothes.

I watched a doco a while back about a lil girl who had this same dwarfism. it was really interesting.

The couple who had the girl went on to have another child and the 2nd child at just 5 months was like triple the size of her, and she was like 4.
