Family 'bashes' girl in Darwin restaurant

Jacqui Stephens claims she had a clump of hair ripped out, was kicked in the groin and punched in the head during the attack, NT News reports.

Staff at the Hog's Breath Cafe reportedly had to stop a woman, her husband, their adult daughter and another man from further attacking Miss Stephens.

The altercation reportedly began when the father abused Ms Stephens and her five friends for splitting the restaurant bill and holding him up.

Ms Stephens admits that heated words were exchanged between the two parties before the older woman shoved her and grabbed her hair.

Ms Stephens then grabbed the woman's hair before her daughter kicked her in the groin.

The father and another male, assumed to be the daughter's boyfriend, allegedly joined in the assault.

It took two male staff members and the manager to break up the fight.

Miss Stephens has made a formal complaint to police who have confirmed the matter is under investigation.

No arrests have been made at this stage
